CLAIMS
REPORTING A CLAIM
At Hipkins Insurance, we're here to assist with the filing of your claims. We'll work with you throughout your entire claims process. However, if you need to file a claim after business hours, you'll need to contact your insurance carrier directly. Though the information needed depends on the type of claim, here's some general information to have ready:
- Your contact information
- Your policy Information (policy number)
- The name and contact information of any other involved parties
- The type of loss you're reporting (auto, home, business, etc.)
- The date the incident occurred
- A description of the loss
- A description of any injuries
WHAT NEXT?
Generally, after reporting your loss, a claims adjuster will call you to discuss what will happen next and what your insurance policy covers. He or she will also answer any questions you have. For auto and property claims, the representative will usually set up a time to inspect the damage in person. Remember, both your adjuster and Hipkins Insurance are there to be your guides throughout the claim process. We'll help you every step of the way.
SETTLING YOUR CLAIM
Every loss is different, so the length of time needed to settle a claim varies. The time it takes to inspect the damage and investigate the claim will determine the time needed to settle your claim. Once your adjuster determines whether the policy covers the loss, your insurance company will generally write you a check based on their estimate of the damage minus any applicable deductibles.
